Update on Carter

Thank you for all the prayers, phone calls, and goodies! We are doing well...just camping in the hospital room. Carter is doing well. His foot is getting much better, the swelling has gone down quite a bit and he actually walked a little this afternoon. The doctor told us to plan on being her at least until Wednesday so we are just trying to keep Carter entertained. We won't ever really know how he got this infection...he doesn't have any open wounds so it's just a mystery. We are very thankful that he is reacting well to the antibiotic and that they caught it when they did.
When we do go home, I am going to be the psycho mom that carries antiseptic and bandaids everywhere. Will you continue to pray for Carter as he heals...that he can stand the IV at least until Wednesday and pray for energy for the rest of us! Thanks! God is good all the time!

What a day...

We began the day with a doctors appt. thinking Carter had a sprained ankle. It is ending in the hospital room...which we have made into our home for awhile and where I can't go to sleep right now. What a stressful day it has been! For those of you that deal with children and doctors all the time...I have lifted up numerous prayers today for you.
After labs, x-rays, and a MRI, Carter has a serious infection in his foot/ankle. Our doctor told us to plan on being in the hospital one week but we could be here up to four weeks. I can't even imagine how we're going to keep a 3-year old (that doesn't even like TV) here one day!

The Lord has been so faithful! My first prayer was just "Lord, take care of my baby!" and he has done that. Then I started praying "Lord, please don't let me cry in front of Carter" and he did that. Then I prayed "Lord please let him be okay with getting and IV" and he took care of that. Then it was "Please let him lay still through the MRI" and he did. Then the one I was praying all day "Lord please let it NOT be something terrible" and it's not...he will be running and playing ball again before we know it. God is faithful to us!
And our wonderful family and friends...we have had Averi taken care of all day, tons of food, phone calls, toys galore for Carter, and I went home to find a freshly mowed yard. We are beyond blessed!

To all the moms...hold your baby tight and thank God for them tonight!

Getaway

The kids and I had a wonderful getaway with my parents last week. We went to San Antonio and got very spoiled! We rode the boat, the train, go-carts, just about everything kids can travel on. We spent lots of time on the Riverwalk, did a little shopping, some swimming, lots of eating, what more can you ask for!

Zoo

We went to the San Antonio zoo and loved it! It was so wonderful...a little better than we are used to! We loved the kangaroos and the elephants but the hippo was really cool. He swam right up to us and he was HUGE! Carter loved feeding the birds nectar. It was a blast!

Firsts

Averi said her first sentence today and although I'm probably the only one who would know what she said...I will always remember it. She came running in the house with big tears, "Mommy...Mommy...Carter's not nice!" or more like "arter's not ice".

Real men camp!

Adam has been talking about going camping with Carter for a long time. We are not the biggest campers or anything. We had to search high and low for the tent before we figured out that it was in storage at Adam's parents...if that tells you anything! Anyway, our friends invited us for a weekend of fun with their family to celebrate their son's 1st birthday. It was a wonderful time for all of us. Here are the camping dudes. They had a blast!

Us girls slept at home and came out for the day of fun. I think Averi is going to be a camping girl. Her toes were black by the end of the day! Crazy how you get home and realize you have pictures of everyone but you...oh well!

Carter and Preston...look just a little like their Dad's. Probably about to get into trouble like their Dad's!

Zach, Jen, & Garrett...Happy Birthday, Garrett!

Celebrate

Today Adam and I celebrate our 7th anniversary! We can't believe it has been seven years but it has! We actually have quite a history before the seven years...from high school to college, through 2 engagements(to each other :), we've been best friends for about 12 years. It is fun to look back, to think about the future, and to enjoy today...together. On my wedding ring Adam had the verse James 1:17 inscribed, "Every good and perfect gift is from above." That has been "our" verse. God blesses us each day and we thank Him for marriage...it is a wonderful thing He has created.
7 years and 7 things I love about Adam:
His rock-solid character and his rock-solid legs:)
His easy-going personality...I have yet to see much get under his skin! Sometimes I try to make him argue with me and it still doesn't work!
He makes me laugh all the time :)
He is a wonderful daddy!
He is a smarty-pants..almost annoyingly smart...kicks everyones booty in Trivial Pursuit
He is always ready to have fun!
He is perfect for me!!

This is one of our engagement pictures. I actually let him try this again the other day and he still has it...thankfully!

Beach

Where's the beach?

We spent a week with Adam's parents at the beach and had so much fun! It was such a wonderful trip. It was the first time Adam has ever taken a whole week off and it was so nice to see him all week! We stayed at a condo where we could walk out the back door and you were on the beach! The kids were in paradise going from the sand to the pool and back again. I have a FEW pictures here to share...memories to last a lifetime!!!

Beach #3

Superman here, was a swimming dude! We are going to have fun this summer! He swam about 3 times every day we were at the beach. It was so nice!

What a pair! We look like we know what we are doing but one of us does not! We loved the beach wall that was in front of our condo. Usually Adam and I would just take off on our roller blades. He was showing me his blading skills!

Beach #4

We went to tour the USS Lexington. The boys were definitely more excited than the girls. It was really neat...just not the best day to be wearing a skirt as you climb tons of ladders carrying a baby. Carter was in heaven like any boy would be going in all the secret passageways. Adam, Mr. History buff, was loving it too!
