Home Sweet Home

We have been out of town for the last month...it has been so much fun but I do feel like a brat! We started with a trip to Dallas, Six Flags, Ranger game, visiting Allen and Carrie..great times. From there we went to our college friends weekend in Salado. Then Adam and I spent a week in Washington DC. Last, I left the kids and Adam and traveled to my family reunion in beautiful Lake Tahoe. Now we are home for the summer! I have so many pictures to share as soon as I finish all these mounds of laundry!

Celebrate!

Today is our 8th anniversary! We both cannot believe 8 years have passed but what a great 8 years it has been! If you go back and count all the years we have been together, it would total 13. We always joke about being high school sweethearts because I was Adam's high school sweetheart but he was not mine. :) Just because I was already in college when we started dating. Then there is the 2 engagements, yes, both to each other! We finally tied the knot and believe that God's timing could not be any more perfect. He truly knows what he was doing when he put the two of us together!
Now 2 kids, several homes, a few jobs, wonderful friends, many great trips, and already a lifetime of memories later we love each other even more. Here's a picture when we got engaged (the second time :) Can't wait to share in all the adventures ahead!

Visits from Papaw

My grandpa, Papaw, sold his house he has lived in for 60 years and moved to our city fairly recently. We have enjoyed having him close to us. He comes to baseball games and other activities and he always brings us ice cream several times a week. As soon as he comes in the door, the kids start saying "Papaw, I'm hungry." He smiles real big and heads to get some ice cream. Here is SOME of the cartons I took out of the freezer so we would have room for more! Times to cherish!

"I broke my pinger"

Averi shut her thumb in the door...it was terrible. We were having such a great time planting flowers when she asked if she could go get her drink. All the sudden I heard screaming so I ran to the garage and had to open the door to get it out. Poor baby! She had x-rays that showed she cracked the top bone. Amazingly, she was using it a couple days later. She just won't open or shut any door now!

Cleats and Heels

Our house right now in two words...cleats and heels. Every room is scattered with sporting equipment and princess accessories. Here are some pics from Carter's first game...he's on the Rangers. He had the most fans there cheering his name (because he called everyone he knew to invite them) and even coached Averi on how to cheer, "Let's go brother, let's go!"

Mismatched heels...and she can run in them!

Carter's prayer

Dear God,
Thank you for this day.
Thank you for our food.
And thank you for our next baseball game.
Amen.

Today was Carter's first baseball game. He LOVED it and was SO cute out there. I'll post some pics asap.

I caught a...SHRIMP!

We all went fishing at the coast off the pier. It was neat to watch all the fishermen around you...since they really knew what they were doing. We looked like we knew what we were doing...using shrimp for bait and everything. The guy beside us caught 2 stingrays!
After trying to fish for about an hour, the girls gave up but the guys kept on plugging. Finally Carter told his Daddy he didn't want to leave until he caught something. Adam, with his quick thinking, said, "Look Carter, look at your pole, I think you caught something!" Carter got so excited he forgot what he had as bait, grabbed his pole, pulled it out, and told Papa & Daddy, "Look, I caught a shrimp!!!" What a coincidence! He was happy and Papa & Adam were happy because they could head back to the condo.

Fun in the sun

We extremely enjoyed our beach vacation this year with Nana and Papa! The kiddos were so much fun. Carter went nonstop from the moment we got there switching between the sand and the pool numerous times a day. He woke up in the morning, put his suit right on, and waited very impatiently for someone to swim with him. Averi was the opposite, she didn't like the wind messing up her hair and didn't get off the top step of the pool. Adam and I enjoyed every second of relaxing and were not ready to come home.

More Easter

We got to visit more cousins...Kody, Kyler, & Kash along with grandparents galore...at the end of the weekend Carter said, "This was the best weekend of my life!"
Here they are in their Easter clothes...looking so cute and sweet.

After church, we had the big egg hunt. The older kids had a money hunt and the younger ones got their candy eggs. Adam and I were a little sad to be out of the hunt this year, not just because no money eggs but mainly b/c we aren't considered the older kids anymore.

Easter with Elli

The kids love Elli and she loves them too. Aaron & Ashley's church had an egg hunt with 7000 eggs...it was incredible. We watched them "hide" the eggs, they just took buckets full and dumped them everywhere. Carter's rules for egg-hunting..."Run as fast as you can, knock kids down or whatever you have to do to get as many eggs as you can then if the little kids don't have any eggs you can share with them." :)

Elli was checking out that bunny...Averi was far, far away.

State Champs!

We went to the state basketball tournament this weekend and got to see my brother's team (he's one of the coaches) win the championship! It was so exciting! I was so proud of the entire team...they played some amazing basketball and were so fun to watch.
We got to stay with my family, play with Elli, do some shopping, eat some good food, and play lots of ping pong...fun times! Here's a pic from the paper...Aaron with his gold medal on the left.

Cheap me

I love good deals...I search for great deals. If you need glasses or contacts in the future here you go...
www.39dollarglasses.com Yes, they are 39 dollars! I have 2 pairs from here that I love and right now you get an extra 10 dollars off. Adam was cracking up one day when he came home and saw me measuring my pupil distance myself in the mirror, that is pretty hard to do! Now I get my doc to do it.
Also, if you need contacts, the best deal is www.contactlensking.com It is so cheap if you don't mind Chinese print on the front...just kidding :)

Accessorize

Averi loves to accessorize...she picks out the craziest things. She especially likes hats and scarves right now...I think because Mommy wears them. She does have good taste, here's a few of her best picks...

The best yet...Carter's boots, leggings, and her polka dot "panties".

Last game

Carter had his last basketball game on Saturday. He already eats, sleeps, and breathes sports and spends most of his time playing the sport of the season so getting to play on a real court with a real uniform and a team was the ultimate prize.
It was so fun to watch a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds playing basketball, pretty cute! He had such a great time and we had a great time watching him. He is already Mr. Competitive and takes the game very seriously. If he is on defense, those arms never go down and if he has the ball, it's going to the basket. The last game, he made 5 baskets!

Go Lions!

Now on to the next sport!

Introducing

Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus

Lucky girl

Carter supplies Averi's every need right now. If she wants something, he figures out how she can have it. So when she wanted baby Elli's hair like hers...he made it happen matching bow and all! As you can see, she was thrilled.

Snow ice cream

We woke up to a beautiful blanket of white and 2 very excited kiddos! It has been such a fun season...more snow than ever before. We tried making snow ice cream today:
1 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 tsp. vanilla
Add snow

You can see how they liked it!

More pics to come...we are waiting on Daddy to build our snowman!

So sad

We went to visit family while Adam was out of town and I had to stop and get my favorite chocolate pie EVER. This is not just any pie...this is the pie my dad brings me when I'm pregnant and the pie I only offer slices to my favorite people. I thought I deserved a whole pie because I had been keeping the kids by myself all week. First, I hid it from my parents because they are both doing Weight Watchers. Then I carried it all the way home, kept the kids from getting it...it was all mine!
So...when I heard the crashing sound coming from the kitchen I knew something was not good. I run in and first see Carter's scared face then my eyes see MY PIE..upsidedown on the floor. Carter and I both cried! Not really but we did get busy trying to save the pie. We scraped all the bad part off and ended up with this...

Needless to say...we got a DQ blizzard instead!

Pray

I love Wednesdays because it is bible study day! God has been working in my heart and making me yearn for more of His word each week. I love studying the bible with other women and listening to the wisdom each of them have...it is such a blessing! Today we talked about praying for others and using God's word in prayer. One of the women said she has prayed these verses for her children for many years and I loved it. Above all...above education, friends, sports, and all the other things we have to worry about...I pray that our children will love the Lord and be full of joy...to be a display of His splendor...what more could you ask for. This is a great verse to pray for our children!

"...to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve,
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness intead of mourning,
and a garment of praise intead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of rightousness,
a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor."
Isaiah 61:1-3

How could God NOT be smiling when He sees these precious faces!

Let it snow!

We were covered with snow last week. It was so beautiful with the trees covered and our blanket of white ourside. We had so much fun building our snowman, having snowball fights, and making snow ice cream. Carter and I lasted much longer than Averi...she said it was tooooo cold!
