Pray

I love Wednesdays because it is bible study day! God has been working in my heart and making me yearn for more of His word each week. I love studying the bible with other women and listening to the wisdom each of them have...it is such a blessing! Today we talked about praying for others and using God's word in prayer. One of the women said she has prayed these verses for her children for many years and I loved it. Above all...above education, friends, sports, and all the other things we have to worry about...I pray that our children will love the Lord and be full of joy...to be a display of His splendor...what more could you ask for. This is a great verse to pray for our children!

"...to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve,
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness intead of mourning,
and a garment of praise intead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of rightousness,
a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor."
Isaiah 61:1-3

How could God NOT be smiling when He sees these precious faces!

Let it snow!

We were covered with snow last week. It was so beautiful with the trees covered and our blanket of white ourside. We had so much fun building our snowman, having snowball fights, and making snow ice cream. Carter and I lasted much longer than Averi...she said it was tooooo cold!

Little Man

Carter is our little man. He gets up early every morning, gets himself fully dressed, eats cereal, checks the weather, and then comes and wakes me up. Adam has been out of town this week so Carter has really been the man of the house. We have a deal that he wakes me up at 8 every morning (I'm a night owl :). So he came in yesterday morning fully dressed, shoes on, teeth brushed and said, "Good morning Mommy, It's 8:00. Today the low is two nine and the high is four three. It's suppose to be cloudy and maybe some rain. Are you ready to get dressed?" I just smiled and thought...I need to tuck this memory away and not forget it because he is so darn cute...my little man!

EVERY day is PJ day

The kids had PJ day at MDO and loved wearing their pj's to school. Carter has changed his mind since last year...he thought it was silly to wear PJ's to school back then. He is very particular about what he wears. :)
Lately we have been spending lots of time in our pj's. I keep thinking that we better enjoy it because Carter will be going to school soon and we will have to get it together. I don't know how we are going to get out of the house awake and dressed by 7:30. Yikes!

Little piece of heaven

We made these today and they are SOOOO yummy. Better than we even hoped for considering we used a shortcut..a box mix! If you need to impress...take these somewhere.

Pumpkin cupcakes

Pillsbury pumpkin muffin mix
Make as directed for muffins then add 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Bake in muffin cups. Then add the best part...

Cream cheese frosting:
1/4 cup softened butter
4 ounces cream cheese
1/2 pound powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix all ingredients on high until soft and whipped. Spread onto completely cooled muffins.

These two don't really go together but I finally got my dad to write down his chili recipe and I wanted to share. Like most men, he cooks on the grill and then has a few other specialties, chocolate chip pancakes and chili. It is SO good on a cold day! It's a large recipe...definitely could cut in half.
5 lbs. lean ground beef
2 bell peppers, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 large & 1 small can tomato sauce
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 can Rotel
Brown hamburger, season fairly generously with salt, pepper, and chili powder. Saute bell pepper and onion. Combine all ingredients and cook in crockpot at 300 for 2 hours. Enjoy!
